Grande Biot Jar
Originating in Provence in the 16th century, biot jars were used to store and transport olive oil across the region. Their distinct shape is narrow at the opening as well as the base but wider in the center, resembling the olive fruit. This particular piece was made somewhere around the late 19th and early 20th century. It is in excellent condition for its age, bearing no cracks and featuring a bright golden glaze around the rim.
